REMINDER: Troopers may pay you a visit if you’re stopped in Virginia today

Published:

Virginia State Police may knock on your truck door if you’re stopped at truck stops or rest areas in the state for the next few days.

The trooper visits are part of a three day “Operation Safe Passage” aimed at raising human trafficking awareness in the trucking industry. The three day event begins today and lasts through Wednesday, April 20th throughout the state of Virginia.

Troopers cannot wake drivers if they are on their 10 hour break, but they are able to pass out educational materials and do inspections if drivers are on duty, so be prepared.

Anyone who suspects human trafficking in the state of Virginia is encouraged to report it by dialing #77 on a cell phone to reach the nearest Virginia State Police Emergency Dispatch Center or to call 911.
