A Corpus Christ resident is seeking compensation of damages after a semi truck took a wrong turn and ended up taking out a power line outside of his house late last year.
The incident happened in November of 2021 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
“The driver made a mistake. He got tangled up there, he had the chance to back up,” homeowner Joe Marroquin said. “He left the scene of the accident. We called the police and filed a report.”
Marroquin says that the downed power lines scratched his vehicles and short circuited several of his electronics. He even had to call an electrician to his house to repair some electrical damage. He says he was able to catch some brief video of the incident on his surveillance cameras, and has even contacted the trucking company, Lange Truck Lines, but has yet to receive any sort of compensation.
“From talking to the reporting, (the truck) ended up on a dead end street,” Lt. Pena, who responded to the incident, said. “It’s understandable, but you’re not typically going to see an 18-wheeler in a residential area.”
Lange Truck Lines reportedly referred Marroquin to their insurance company, but he says that all of his calls to the insurance company have been left unanswered.
“If it was us doing damage to their vehicle or anybody else, they’d be wanting for us to make good,” Marroquin said. “I don’t see why they can’t make good.”
