Troopers with the Indiana State Police (ISP) recently discovered more than 100 pounds of illegal drugs during a roadside inspection along I-70.
The incident began on January 9 at 5:45 p.m in Putnam County, Indiana.
An ISP trooper stopped a semi truck driven by New York-based truck driver Vikram Sandhu, 32, on I-70 at mile marker 41 for a roadside inspection.
Troopers say that while speaking to Sandhu, “criminal indicators were detected.”
A Putnam County Sheriff’s Department canine unit was called to the scene, and the dog alerted to the presence of illegal drugs.
Officers then searched the truck and discovered approximately 115 pounds of cocaine in the sleeper berth area of the vehicle.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $2 million.
Sandhu was arrested and booked into the Putnam County Jail.
Sandhu has been charged with Dealing Narcotics, a Level 2 Felony, and Possession of Narcotics, a Level 3 Felony.
ISP says that Sandhu was traveling from Houston, Texas, to Indianapolis, Indiana when he was pulled over.
