Semi crash wakes neighborhood, driver flees scene on foot

Published:

A truck driver fled the scene of a crash on foot after waking up a whole neighborhood in Missouri on Wednesday night.

The accident happened on March 16th near the intersection of Junge Boulevard and Stardust Lane in Jasper County, Missouri at around 9:45 p.m.

According to 12 ABC KODE, the bobtail rig went crashing through several backyards at a high rate of speed before smashing through a concrete slab, several large tree branches, and a wooden fence. The semi finally came to a stop when it crashed into two cars parked behind the wooden fence.

Residents of the neighborhood say that the sound of the crash was loud enough to shake their homes, startling many awake and sending them outside to check out what had happened. Billy Fenix, a resident who says he immediately headed outside once he heard the commotion, saw the semi truck tires spinning and smoking and watched the truck driver jump out and flee the scene on foot. His wife then called 911 and said the driver ran up onto her porch before leaving the scene entirely.

Jasper County Sheriff deputies then searched for the missing driver but were unsuccessful. Officers urge anyone with information on the driver to contact the Missouri Highway Patrol, Troop D at (417) 895-6877.
