Semi driver cited for ‘following too closely’ after collision with scooter

A Virginia Sheriff says that a truck driver was ticketed following a crash that a scooter rider who was lucky to have escaped from without serious injury.

The crash occurred at 11:13 p.m. on September 18 in Stafford County, Virginia.

Police responded to the 1400 block of Warrenton Road and found a scooter stuck to the bumper of a truck.

Both the 2019 Mack Truck and the “2022 Honda Moped” had been traveling south when the truck struck the scooter from the rear.

The Stafford County Sheriff (SCTO) said that the scooter driver was “obviously shaken, but believed to be okay.” He was transported to a nearby hospital as a precaution.

Police did not provide information on what led to the crash.

Police said that the truck driver was charged with following too closely and released on a summons.

SCTO said, “Please drive carefully and leave ample distance from the vehicle in front of you.”
