Semi truck among property damaged as severe Florida storms bring tornados

Published:

An overturned semi truck is just one of the many instances of property damage that occurred in Florida on Sunday morning as severe storms moved through the area.

The storms happened on January 16th in southwest Florida.

According to Wink News, the storms knocked out power for thousands of people and displaced hundreds more. At least one tornado was sighted in Collier County, and the winds from the tornado reportedly knocked over a tractor trailer as it was driving along I-75 north, just before mile marker 96. The driver of that rig suffered minor injuries in the incident and is expected to recover.

The Red Cross says it is working closely with Fort Myers emergency crews to get assistance to those who need it, which includes helping displaced people find a place to stay.
