Semi’s collision with house moves building off foundation

The driver and her passenger were injured.

A tractor trailer knocked a house off of its foundation in a South Dakota crash on Wednesday morning.

The accident happened on August 10th at 6:17 a.m. near Sturgis off of Interstate 90.

According to Rapid City Journal, the tractor trailer was heading eastbound on I-90 near the exit 32 on-ramp when it veered off the right side of the roadway, plowed through a chain link fence, and crossed Dickson Drive.

The truck then drove onto private property, traveled up a small slope, and crashed into a home. The force of the impact separated the second from the first level, and even shifted the house off of its foundation.

A 74-year-old occupant of the house was able to escape the residence without injury. Both the 68-year-old female truck driver and her 63-year-old male passenger sustained minor injuries in the incident and were transported to the hospital.

The accident is still under investigation. No further information has been released.
