Semi’s crash into business takes life of driver

A truck driver is dead after crashing through the side of a business in Iowa on Thursday morning. 

The accident happened on January 7th in St Paul, Iowa at around 3:47 a.m. 

According to The Hawk Eye, the semi truck was heading east on Locust Street when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the t-intersection with Main Street and smashed through the side of Tri State Stove Inc, leaving the front half of the rig completely inside of the building. 

No one was inside the building at the time of the accident, but the truck driver, 61-year-old Richard Cathey Jr, was killed. The passenger resting in the sleeper berth of the truck at the time of the incident , 69-year-old Alexander Levell, was also hurt in the crash and was transported to a nearby hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. He has since been released from the hospital. 

The cause of the accident is still unknown and is still under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
