Singer and ‘Black Dog’ actor Meat Loaf passes away at age 74

Rock singer and actor Meat Loaf has passed away at the age of 74, according to a statement from the star’s social media accounts.

On Friday morning, family members announced via the “Bat Out of Hell” singer’s Facebook page that he passed away surrounded by his wife Deborah, daughters Pearl and Amanda, and close friends.

The cause of death has not been released.

While Meat Loaf is best known for his rock opera albums “Bat Out of Hell” and “
“Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell,” he also appeared in the beloved 1998 trucker movie
“Black Dog” with Patrick Swayze, playing the trucking yard operator “Red.”

Meat Loaf took a darker turn playing “Jack” the truck driver in the 2000 serial killer thriller “Blacktop.”

Back in 1980, Meat Loaf played truck driver “Travis W. Redfish” in the comedy “Roadie” starring Alice Cooper and Blondie.
