Sleepy driver okay after smashing into empty toll booth 

A truck driver walked away unscathed on Sunday morning after falling asleep at the wheel and crashing through a toll plaza in Houston. 

The accident happened on May 8th on the Sam Houston Tollway in north Houston at around 4:15 a.m.

According to Fox 26 News Houston, the driver was heading west on N Sam Houston between Veterans Memorial and Antoine Dr./Bammel N Houston Road when the driver fell asleep while passing through a toll plaza. 

The semi truck made it through the toll booth but then overturned onto the right shoulder, spilling its load of fruit and damaging a guard rail. The driver was temporarily pinned in their truck following the wreck, but was quickly rescued and was not hurt in the incident. 

No further information has been released.
