Two people are dead after a truck driver suspected of DUI crashed head-on with their vehicle before fleeing the scene and suffering a medical emergency.

The accident happened on Friday, December 23rd at 9:38 p.m. in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

According to Local 21 News, the tractor trailer was driving the wrong way in the westbound lane of the Pennsylvania Turnpike when it slammed into a Ford F-250 pickup head-on. The force of the impact killed two sisters in the truck and injured a man. A third vehicle then crashed into the wreckage, but no one was seriously hurt.

The truck driver then fled the scene, got into another vehicle, and suffered a medical emergency.

When police arrived at the scene, the truck driver was arrested and transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation and treatment. Results of a blood test are currently pending, but police reports show that the driver is suspected of being intoxicated or under the influence of illegal drugs at the time of the wreck, reported Fox 43.
