Three people are dead after an SUV smashed into a tractor trailer while fleeing police in Arizona on Thursday.
The accident happened just before 9 a.m. in Picacho along Interstate 10.
According to ABC Family, a DPS officer attempted to stop an SUV traveling west on I-10, but the car sped off. Troopers pursued the SUV, and at some point the car crossed the center median, drove into the eastbound lanes, and slammed head-on into an oncoming semi truck.
The SUV was carrying 8 people at the time of the crash. Three were killed in the incident. Investigators believe that the SUV may have been involved in “attempted human smuggling activity.”
