Teenager killed during four wheeler’s attempt to pass semi truck

Published:

A teenager is dead after a motorist attempted to pass a semi truck at the wrong time, causing a chain reaction crash with a second semi truck.

The accident happened on May 11th at around 1 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 78 and County Road 556 in Farmersville, Texas.

According to 8 ABC News, a motorist was heading south on Highway 78 between a semi truck ahead and a pickup behind. The motorist then moved into the northbound lanes in an attempt to pass the lead rig but was unable to do so before an oncoming semi truck came into view. The motorist managed to avoid colliding head-on with the semi truck by moving farther left out of the main northbound lane, but clipped the oncoming truck in the process and came to a stop propped up by a power pole.

The clipped semi truck then swerved into the southbound lanes, striking the pickup head-on. The 19-year-old pickup driver was killed in the collision. No other injuries have been reported. It is not clear what citations, if any, were issued as a result of the wreck. No further information has been released.
