Tennessee sheriff searching for SUV driver who shot at a semi truck

Published:

The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO) is asking for public help in locating a suspect accused of firing on a big rig during a road rage incident last week.

The incident occurred on Friday, August 19, on I-24 toward Chattanooga at mile marker 70 in Rutherford County, Tennessee.

Police say that at 12:37 a.m., the driver of a semi truck attempted to merge lanes due to construction at Almaville Road. While the truck driver tried to merge, the driver of a dark colored SUV drove on the shoulder to try to pass the truck.

The truck driver was unable to move over due to traffic, according to RCSO.

The SUV driver reportedly showed down, fired one round into the cab of the truck, then moved in front of the truck and drove away.

The truck driver was not injured.

Anyone with information on the shooting or the SUV driver is asked to call Detective Will Pinson and leave a message at 615-904-3056.
