Thousands of Western Star trucks recalled for defect that could cause hood detachment

Recall

Daimler Trucks North America, LLC (DTNA) has issued a recall for more that 4000 trucks due to a hood issue.

The recall affects certain 2020-2023 47X and 49X Western Star vehicles.

According to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) documents, the hood bezel covers on recalled trucks may detach, which would lead to a road hazard and increase the risk of a crash.

A total of 4,006 trucks are affected by the recall.

DTNA says that dealers will replace the hood bezel covers for free.

Owner notification letters will be mailed on October 28, 2022.

Truck owners with questions about the recall can contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-547-0712. DTNA’s number for this recall is FL-951.
