Tolls on Ohio River bridges to increase by more than 8% starting July 1

Officials will be increasing toll rates for both passenger and commercial vehicle drivers on three bridges in the Kentucky/Indiana area, starting next month.

Starting on July 1, 2022, tolls on the I-65 Abraham Lincoln Bridge and the I-65 Kennedy Bridge connecting Louisville to southern Indiana as well as the SR 265/KY 841 Lewis and Clark Bridge connecting Prospect, Kentucky and Utica, Indiana, will increase by 8.3%, the largest increase since tolling began on the bridges in 2016.

Following the toll rate increase, vehicles with five axles or more will pay as much as $14.38 to cross the bridges.

According to RiverLink, the bridge toll normally increases by 2.5% each year but the increase was much higher this year due to inflation.

Officials say that the toll revenue is put toward the financial obligations of the Ohio River Bridges Project and to pay for operations and maintenance of the bridges and roadways in the project area.
