Tomato spill causes chain-reaction of crashes

A semi truck spilled a load of tomatoes in California on Monday, causing a chain reaction of crashes.

The incident happened on September 19th in Vacaville, California on Interstate 80.

According to NBC 29, the truck driver lost control on I-80 and hit another car before crashing into the center median wall. The force of the impact broke open the trailer full of tomatoes and spilled them onto the roadway, creating a slippery mess.

Another car then got stuck in the spilled produce, leading to a series of crashes between four other vehicles.

One person sustained serious injuries in the crash and two other sustained minor injuries. No other information has been released.
