The Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP) is taking part in a major statewide distracted driving detail using big rigs to spot violations.
On Sunday, WSP announced a “Trooper in a Truck” enforcement effort taking place statewide from July 11 — 15. The operation will be conducted in partnership with the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association.
During the Trooper in a Truck campaign, “officers will be on the lookout for dangerous distracted driving behavior from vantage point of a commercial motor vehicle.”
The Trooper in a Truck detail in Wisconsin is taking place during the CVSA’s “Operation Safe Driver Week,” which is happening July 10 — 16 throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. During Operation Safe Driver Week, law enforcement agencies will be monitoring both passenger and commercial vehicle drivers for unsafe behaviors, including distracted driving, following too closely, improper lane change, and drunk or drugged driving.
Also taking place in Wisconsin this week are several aerial speed enforcement efforts.
