Trooper trapped after semi plows into stopped patrol car

A trooper was trapped inside of their mangled vehicle in Michigan on Friday morning after a crash with a semi truck. 

The accident happened on April 8th in Van Buren County, Michigan. 

According to Fox 2 News, the trooper was parked on the side of Interstate 94  investigating a previous crash when the semi truck struck the patrol vehicle, trapping the trooper inside. 

First responders were able to eventually free the trapped trooper, who was conscious and alert throughout the rescue. He suffered only non life threatening injuries. The truck driver suffered minor injuries in the crash. 

As of 10:20 a.m., the freeway was still partially closed for cleanup and investigation of the incident.
