Published:

Louisiana State Police (LSP) are investigating a two-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a child on Thursday morning.

LSP troopers responded to I-12 west of Highway 441 in Livingston Parish shortly after 8 a.m. on April 7, 2022.

According to the police, the initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as 60 year old Predrag Bisevac was traveling east on I-122 in a 2020 Freightliner tractor trailer. For reasons still under investigation, as Bisevac approached stopped traffic, he failed to stop and struck the rear of a 2010 Ford F-150.

Eighteen month old Gael Pacheco was the rear seat passenger in the Ford at the time of the crash.

Pacheco was restrained in a child safety seat, but suffered serious injuries. She was transported to a hospital but did not survive.

The driver and another passenger in the Ford were also taken to the hospital for moderate injuries.

LSP says that impairment is not suspected, but a toxicology sample was taken from the Ford driver.

Bisevac suffered minor injuries in the crash.

After he was medically cleared, Bisevac was arrested and booked into the Livingston Parish Jail for Negligent Homicide and Reckless Operation. A toxicology sample was taken from Bisevac as part of the investigation.
