Police in California say that a man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a truck driver on Saturday.

Around 7:30 a.m. on June 25, law enforcement received a report about an injured man in the parking lot of the EZ Trip Travel Center located at 44779 Lassen Ave. in Avenal (Fresno County), California, according to a news release from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO).

Officers with the Avenal Police, the California Highway Patrol and Kings County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and discovered a man who had passed away from stab wounds at the truck stop location.

A man later determined to be the suspect remained at the scene and was arrested by police.

“The victim is a truck driver who reportedly had given a ride to the suspect. Detectives have not determined where the two met and what lead to the assault. It is being considered a random attack. Detectives are looking into the possibility that the suspect recently committed carjackings in Oakland and Bakersfield prior to entering Fresno County,” FCSO said.

ABC30 reports that the suspect has been identified as 21 year old Isaiah Harley. According to the outlet, Harley was walking along I-5 when he was picked up by the truck driver, who hasn’t yet been identified.

Harley has been booked into the Fresno County Jail on a homicide charge.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sheriff’s Detective Juan Galindo at (559) 600-8215 or Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867.

The incident remains under investigation.
