Truck driver killed in collision with train in Oklahoma

Published:

A truck driver lost his life in Grady County, Oklahoma, on Monday afternoon after his vehicle was struck by a train.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on July 11 north of Chickasha, Oklahoma.

Authorities say that 45 year old Troy R. Zielinski was driving a gravel truck westbound on County Road 1300 when his truck was struck on the passenger side of the cab by a train.

KFOR reports that the truck was pushed about a quarter of a mile down the track before the train came to a stop.

KWSO reports that Zielinski “failed to yield” at the railroad crossing prior to the crash.

It isn’t clear whether crossing arms or warning lights were activated at the time of the crash.

Zielinski was reportedly pinned inside the truck for hours before passing away at the scene.

The incident remains under investigation.
