Truck driver killed in explosive train collision in California

A truck driver lost his life on Thursday in a crash involving a train that occurred in Kingsburg, California.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, at Sierra Street and Simpson Street near Highway 99 in Kingsburg.

“The train was traveling southbound through town and the truck was traveling west. At this point, we don’t know what happened to make him go through the arms,” the Kingsburg Police Department told KSEE.

The crash sparked a massive fire and explosions, producing heavy black smoke visible from miles away.

The truck driver passed away as a result of the crash. His identity has not yet been released.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.
