Truck takes a cold plunge when driver confuses frozen lake for open field

Published:

A truck driver got a nasty surprise after mistaking a frozen lake for a snowy field in North Dakota on Sunday morning.

The accident happened on January 2nd, 2021 in Dunn County near Skunk Bay.

According to The Bismarck Tribune, the truck driver was lost and drove off road and into what they thought was a field in order to turn around. But instead of making a successful u-turn, the truck fell through the ice. Thankfully, the driver was able to escape the waterlogged truck himself and call 911.

The accident occurred on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation in the Bakken oil fields. So far, it is not clear if the truck leaked any substances into the water.
