Trucker arrested for crash that killed fire chief

Published:

A truck driver has been taken into custody for his involvement in a wreck that took the life of an assistant fire chief in Missouri late last December.

Truck driver Kevin Lee Brunson was arrested on Friday, March 25th after being indicted on a charge of first degree involuntary manslaughter earlier this month. The wreck in question occurred early on December 22nd.

According to US News, Boone County assistant fire chief, Bryant Gladney, was working at the scene of a previous accident on Interstate 70 near Columbia when a tractor trailer driven by Brunson struck Gladney’s vehicle at a high rate of speed.

Brunson’s rig then struck an ambulance and the truck that had been involved in the initial crash. The force of the impact trapped Gladney inside of his vehicle and he had to be extricated. Gladney was then transported to a hospital, where he died.
