Trucker ignored ‘no truck’ signs before Giant’s Despair overturn, police say

A truck driver was cited after ignoring signs banning truck traffic and overturning on a narrow road.

The accident happened on Monday morning, October 3rd at 9:30 a.m. in Pennsylvania.

According to PA Homepage, 36-year-old truck driver Jason Caines was attempting a right-hand curve on East Northampton Street, otherwise known as Giant’s Despair, when the truck overturned. Investigators say the truck then hit the guardrail and skidded several feet before coming to a complete stop.

Caines was transported to Geisinger Hospital for unknown injuries. Police say that Caines ignored multiple PennDOT signs warning that commercial vehicles are prohibited on Giant’s Despair. He will be cited for the incident.

The truck was hauling steel at the time of the wreck and was towed from the scene.
