Trucker, motorist hurt during pickup’s attempt to pass big rig

Published:

A trucker and a motorist were injured on Monday morning after the motorist attempted to pass the semi truck on a highway.

The accident happened on June 20th at around 11:15 a.m. east of Edina, Missouri.

According to KTVO News, 79-year-old Linda Early was driving along Highway 6 when she decided to try to pass a semi truck hauling grain driven by 70-year-old Larry Howard. Early was in the process of passing the truck when the semi truck made a left turn, causing the pickup to collide with the rig. The semi truck then caught fire.

Howard sustained serious injuries in the incident, but Early sustained only minor injuries. Both were transported to nearby hospitals.

The semi truck was hauling soybeans at the time of the crash, leaving a mess along Highway 6 and forcing the closure of the roadway as crews worked to clear the mess. The incident was cleared and the roadway was reopened by 4 p.m.
