Trucker saved via rope rescue after sliding down embankment

Published:

A truck driver was pulled from a wrecked rig using ropes after a crash in Ohio on Monday.

The accident happened on January 25th on Interstate 71 north at the 216 mile marker.

According to Fox 8 News, the truck slid off I-71 northbound and down a snowy embankment, jamming the truck door against a tree and trapping the driver inside.

Firefighters were able to set up a low-angle rope rescue system to get crews down the embankment with a hydraulic spreader in order to get the trucker back up safely.

Absorbent booms were also placed in the creek below to trap any diesel leaked in the incident.

The driver was injured in the incident, but the extent of his injuries is not clear. He was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
