Trucker spit, kicked troopers during arrest for DUI, suspended license

Published:

A truck driver with a suspended license was taken into custody on Sunday after getting pulled over for improper lane changes.

The arrest was made on February 27th at around 3:10 p.m. near Normal, Illinois.

According to The Pantagraph, 28-year-old truck driver, Jamakio D. Chapell was driving a bobtail truck on Interstate 74 when patrolling officers noticed him speeding and “repeatedly” swerving between lanes.

Chapell was pulled over and officers discovered he had a suspended license and an open beer can in his cab, so they placed him under arrest. As he was being arrested, Chapell spit on two troopers three times, and even kicked one of the troopers in the abdomen, back, and leg.

Chapell is now facing four counts of aggravated battery, Class 2 felonies, one count of misdemeanor resisting a peace officer, and 11 traffic charges, including driving under the influence of alcohol.

Chapell was booked into McLean County jail on $2,035 bail, which he has not posted. His arraignment is scheduled for March 18.
