Trucker tried to unload trailer in attempt to unstick from tracks prior to train collision, police say

A truck driver did his best to unstick his trailer from some railroad tracks prior to a train collision, police say.

The incident happened on Tuesday, September 27th at around 5:40 p.m. south of Sebree, Kentucky.

According to WPKY News, trucker Lowell Foster had picked up some construction equipment and attempted to cross an elevated train crossing near Sebree Springs park when his lowboy trailer got stuck on the tracks.

Forster attempted to unload the equipment from the trailer to get it unstuck before a train came, but he was unsuccessful. A CSX train approached the scene and was unable to stop before striking the truck and trailer.

No one was injured, but the truck, trailer, and a crossing arm were destroyed in the accident.

The rail line was shut down for around four hours as crews worked to move the heavy construction equipment. Recovery efforts continued until around midnight. No further information has been released.
