The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) is planning major interstate closures starting this weekend.
Starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 16, southbound I-35 will be fully closed between between I-44 (mile marker 133) and I-40 (mile marker 127) near downtown Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Southbound I-35 is scheduled to reopen at 6 a.m. on September 19.
Traffic will be diverted from southbound I-35 at the I-44/I-35 split, according to ODOT.
The detour will be westbound I-44 to southbound I-235/US-77 to southbound I-35 throughout the weekend.
The interstate closure will allow crews to resurface the roadway.
Drivers should also be aware of a second major interstate closure in Oklahoma City that is taking place the weekend of September 30.
Starting at 7 p.m. on Friday, September 30, through 6 a.m. on Monday, October 3, northbound I-35 will be fully closed between I-40 (mile marker 127) and I-44 (mile marker 133).
ODOT says that the detour will be I-40 to northbound I-235/US-77 to eastbound I-44 to northbound I-35.
