Truckers nearly electrocuted when raised bed strikes overhead power line

Published:

Two men were electrically shocked while attempting to dump a load in Michigan early on Friday morning.

The accident happened on the morning of October 21st in Amboy Township.

According to Hillsdale Daily News, two men in a semi truck were attempting to dump a load of sludge in the corner of a field when their raised hydraulic trailer struck an overhead power line. The contact caused an electrical current to pass through the truck, shocking the two men. The overhead line then broke and fell to the ground, sparking a fire that consumed the truck.

Both fuel tanks on the truck then ruptured and multiple fire departments were contacted to douse the fire and clean up the fuel. The truck was deemed a total loss, but neither of the men were seriously injured in the incident.
