Trucking company president killed in truck crash

The president of a West Virginia Trucking company was killed in a fiery truck crash on Tuesday. 

The incident happened on August 16th in White Hall just before 4:30 p.m. on Interstate 79.

According to 13 News, the semi truck, driven by Larry Lee Atha was traveling along I-79 southbound near mile marker 132.5 when he struck a guardrail, veered across both southbound lanes, and struck the guardrail again. The truck then caught fire and came to a rest on the Tygart River Bridge. 

Atha was unable to exit the truck and was pronounced dead at the scene. Atha was the President of Bridgeport-based Atha Trucking. The crash is still under investigation. The right lane of I-79 south near the crash site was still closed on Wednesday morning.
