A truck driver was killed in an accident on his way home from Hurricane Ian cleanup late on Tuesday night.
The accident happened near Biloxi, Mississippi around 11 p.m. on October 18th.
According to Sun Herald, 58-year-old Frank Culler was driving west in a Freightliner hauling a flatbed loaded with machinery when he collided with another rig parked on the side of Interstate 10 near the Long Beach exit. The collision sent Culler’s truck into a nearby ravine where it struck several trees before coming to a stop and pushed the other rig off the roadway.
Culler’s rig caught fire as a result of the collision. He was pronounced dead at the scene from blunt force trauma. Investigators say that Culler was heading back to his employer’s office in Covington after using the machinery during cleanup of Hurricane Ian. The other driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the wreck.
The roadway was closed for six hours for cleanup. No further information has been released.
