Two men were arrested after getting caught buying thousands of dollars worth of semi truck tires in Texas.
The men were arrested on Friday, March 25th in Midland County, Texas.
According to Your Basin News, a Special Agent with the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division was alerted to a stolen credit card out of Dalhart, Texas that had been used to purchase $12,000 in semi truck tires. Agents then organized a “controlled delivery” and met with one of the suspects, Misael Hernandez, who was in possession of multiple semi truck tires. Agents then followed him to another address where he met with Yoel Sotolongo, his apparent partner in crime, to deliver more of the tires.
At the second location, agents discovered a “large quantity” of new semi truck tires and rims that had been purchased fraudulently with the stolen credit card. Agents then obtained a search warrant and discovered another trailer full of truck tires, four other trailers, two trucks, and even more tires purchased from various locations across the state of Texas.
Both men were arrested and taken to the Midland County Detention Center. Sotolongo was released on March 28th on an unknown bond, Henandez was released from custody on March 29th on $50,000 bond. 41-year-old Hernandez has been charged with Theft of Property Greater than $30,000, but less than $150,000. 38-year-old Sotolongo has been charged with Credit/Debit Card Abuse, Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information, and Theft of Property Greater than $300,000.
