Published:

Two K9 officers were injured after a crash with a semi truck in stopped traffic late last week.

The accident happened on Friday, November 11th in Hall County, Georgia at around 10:25 a.m.

According to WSBTV Atlanta News, Sgt. Jeremy Prickett was driving a Hall County Sheriff’s Office pickup on Browns Bridge Road near Lamplighter Cove Road with his K9s Bella and Timo in kennels in the bed when they encountered stopped traffic.

A semi truck driven by 60-year-old Jeffery Raney was reportedly following the pickup too closely and hit the back of the pickup as a result. Both dogs were injured in the incident and taken to a nearby veterinarian for treatment of cuts and other minor injuries. Prickett sustained minor injuries but was not hospitalized.

Bella and Prickett will return to work on Tuesday, November 15th, but Timo will be given more time to recover. It is unclear whether Raney was injured in the wreck.

Charges are pending as the event continues to be investigated by the Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.
