Two-rig crash claims lives of both drivers

Two drivers are dead after a semi truck and a box truck collided in Michigan early on Sunday morning.

The accident happened on March 6th in Washtenaw County, Michigan at around 2:49 a.m.

According to Fox 2 Detroit, a semi truck overturned as it was entering eastbound Interstate 94 from Baker Road, coming to a rest on its side across the interstate. A box truck heading east on I-94 then struck the overturned rig, sparking a fire and claiming the lives of both drivers.

Police are still investigating the reason behind the overturned truck.

“When I heard the tragic news, it just bothers me because we all stick together out here. We keep in contact on the radio, so every driver is family,” said Christopher Hicks, a trucker who passed by the tragic crash on Sunday morning.

“Safety is priority. Every time we are on this road that’s the main thing we practice, Hicks said. “Unfortunately, the situation that took place … it really hurts to see another co-driver lose their life. Every day is a challenge. Every day, there’s a possibility we may not be able to make it home.”

The identities of the deceased drivers have not been released.
