Two trucks topple off side of freeway in separate wrecks

One person was sent to the hospital after two wrecks sent two trucks toppling off the side of a California roadway on Friday morning.

The initial wreck was reported at 6:40 a.m. on Friday, November 2nd on the southbound truck route between the 5 Freeway and 14 Freeway in the Newhall Pass near Santa Clarita, California.

According to Hometown Station News, the semi truck reportedly fell through the barrier from the northbound side of the freeway and fell onto the truck route below, blocking a tunnel.

“An off-duty police officer confirmed there was nobody trapped and no injuries,” said Robert Munoz, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Around 30 minutes after the first crash, a second truck, this time a box truck, went over the side of the northbound freeway and landed on the main crash scene below, crushing an unoccupied SUV involved in the initial wreck.

One person was sent to the hospital in unknown condition. No further information has been released.
