Unexplained truck wreck severs cab, shuts down highway for hours

Police are still investigating a wreck that severed the cab of a truck in south Texas on Thursday morning. 

The accident happened on February 17th in Beaumont, Texas. 

According to 12 News Now, the wreck involved one semi truck on westbound Interstate 10 near the downtown exit just west of the Neches River bridge. The wreck damaged a concrete median wall and backed up traffic in the area for around two hours. 

The truck driver was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The truck was hauling a load of scrap metal and appears to have split apart as a result of the wreck. 

No further information has been released.
