The Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) shared dash cam video from the cruiser of a trooper who happened to the be in the right place at the right time to offer aid after a crash.
The video was captured on Friday, August 5, on southbound I-15.
In the dash cam clip, you can see a semi truck driver traveling in the lane to the right of the trooper suddenly swerves left following a collision with a car. The semi truck pushes the car sideways for a short distance before the truck driver is able to safely slow down and pull off to the shoulder.
UHP said only minor injuries were reported.
“Our Trooper was at the right place at the right time and able to prevent a potentially horrible outcome!” UHP said.
Trooper Kate Vanroosendaal told Fox13Now that “The semi-truck driver said that he didn’t want to press his brakes because he thought that he would hurt the driver more. So he dragged that car for an extremely long time.”
UHP also noted that “Semis are not allowed in the number one lane, this particular crash happened due to the semi changing lanes out of the number one and into the number two.”
