The Cookeville Police Department (CPD) in Tennessee shared shocking video of the moment that a truck driver ignored warning signals from an officer about downed power lines, causing even more damage.
CPD shared the video on November 22, 2022.
Police explained the sequence of events leading up to the power line strike:
“Officers working a single-vehicle crash attempted to stop a motorist to keep them from striking downed power lines. The driver did not see the officer and struck the power lines causing the utility pole and power lines to break narrowly missing the officer and striking his patrol vehicle. We wanted to take this opportunity to ask you to help keep our officers safe. Please be cautious when you see emergency vehicles and take note of your surroundings, it could save a life. Thankfully, no one was injured in this incident.”
