Published:

Police in Ohio released traffic cam video of a Thursday morning crash that occurred in Summit County.

The crash occurred around 7:20 a.m. on May 12 in the town of Green, Ohio.

The Summit County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) says that a dump truck struck an Ohio Department Transportation (ODOT) vehicle parked on the shoulder of I-77.

“An explosion ensued and both vehicles caught on fire,” SCSO said.

Rescue crews were able to remove both drivers from their vehicles.

Both drivers were taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.

ODOT District 4 released the following statement on the crash:

Early today, an ODOT District 4 Highway Technician was struck alongside Interstate 77 in the City of Green. He was transported to a local hospital and is currently being treated with serious, but non-life threating injuries. We are extremely fortunate he is alive as this could have had a much different outcome. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family.

The crash is under investigation by SCSO.
