VIDEO: Two trucks crash after using runaway ramp seconds apart

Video captured in Oregon shows two trucks taking a runaway ramp at virtually the same time, resulting in a collision.

The video was shared this week by Instagram user heavy_haul_n_fool, who described the incident as “2 for 1 run away truck ramp.”

Oregon State Police provided CDLLife with the following report on the May 1 incident:

Two CMVs were traveling in tandem westbound Hwy 58 near mile post 52. The two CMVs were with the same company and both hauling semi-truck with trailer carrying potatoes (60k Load each trailer). Both drivers advised they had lost their brakes coming down the hill. Unit#1 used the truck escape ramp and Unit#2 followed. Unit#1 came to a stop near the top of the escape ramp. Unit#2 had a little more speed going up the escape ramp and had to swerve to the right not to rear end Unit#1. Unit#2 sideswiped Unit#1 on the passenger side. Both Units came to rest along side each other. Significant damage to both CMV’s which had to be towed from the scene. There was also fuel that was spilled from the CMV’s on the escape ramp. Hazmat was later called to the scene to clean up. Both drivers were checked out by medical and claimed no injuries. Both drivers had international drivers licenses and were Spanish speakers. Trooper spoke to manager of the company via phone while on-scene. Trooper was able to obtain statements from the drivers using translator.
