Volvo issues recall after using substitute parts during cabinet assembly

Volvo has issued a recall for a small number of trucks due to improperly installed in-cab cabinets.

The Volvo Trucks New River Valley production facility in Virginia corrected the improper installation on January 27th, and Volvo submitted the Part 573 Safety Recall Report approximately a week later. A total of 209 trucks will be affected by this recall, and owners of these rigs will be notified by April 30th.

According to the safety recall report, production of the original cabinet bolts was halted due to a shortage of parts, prompting Volvo to use substitute parts. Because of this substitution, line workers failed to install the required washer along with the substitute bolts, causing the cabinets to be improperly installed.

The recall affects a limited number of 2022-2023 Volvo VN L4 and L4E sleeper semi trucks.
