WATCH: Four-wheeler goes flying when stop-and-go traffic tap with semi blows out truck tire

Published:

A bizarre accident was caught on dash cam along the New Jersey Turnpike.

In the video captured by a truck heading southbound on the New Jersey Turnpike, stop and go traffic on the southbound side comes to a stop when a motorist taps the back of a stopped truck. The incident seems like it should have been minor, except the back tire on the semi truck appears to explode when the car hits it.

The force of the tire blowing out then sends the white car flying, causing it to flip and skid on its roof for several feet.

“Some context. Yesterday morning headed south on the eastern spur. Heard a huge bang, looked to my left and watched this four wheeler roll onto its side. Looked in my side mirror and watched him roll onto the roof and continue to slide down the road. He had driven into the rear left tire of that northbound trailer. I called it out on CB and continued on. The turnpike was a mess yesterday with accidents,” wrote the video poster.

“Texting and driving was my guess,” he continued. “My dashcam only captured the initial hit and roll. Watching in my mirror seeing him slide on the roof was brutal.”

“I can’t imagine he was going too fast with that traffic. Was it the tire explosion that flipped him?” wrote one viewer.

“I think that’s exactly what happened. That and the force of the tire spinning forward pushed the car up and over,” the video poster answered.
