WATCH: Semi trucks backed up bumper to bumper near Texas border crossing

Published:

Semi trucks were seen lined up in Texas on Monday while waiting for inspections by Texas state troopers.

The line started at the Santa Teresa Port of Entry and was backed up off Artcraft and Upper Valley Road in El Paso, Texas.

KFox 14 News reports that all trucks passing through the Santa Teresa Port of Entry were diverted for inspection, leading to the long lines. State troopers were also seen pulling semi trucks off the side of the road for inspections.

The Texas Department of Public Safety announced that state troopers will begin “frequent” and random commercial vehicle inspections in an effort to deter human and drug smuggling last week. The DPS has not confirmed whether the line was due to these enhanced inspections.
