A man was taken into custody on Tuesday after stealing crates of marijuana in a stolen box truck and fleeing police.

The incident happened on May 3rd at around 3:30 a.m. in Los Angeles, California.

According to KTLA News, the LA Police Department received calls reporting gunshots at the 900 block of Venice Boulevard and officers responded to the scene. When officers arrived, there was no evidence of an assault, but officers were led to a suspect in a stolen box truck. The driver in the box truck ignored officers’ attempts to stop them and began a pursuit.

Video of the police pursuit shows sparks flying behind the truck as it tries to speed away with the cargo door still open. Crates of stolen cannabis can be seen falling from the truck as the pursuit continues.

The chase continued to 41st Place and Wadsworth Avenue in the Historic South-Central neighborhood of South L.A., where the pursuit eventually came to an end and the driver was taken into custody. No further information has been released.
