Weight, HOS exemptions extended for drivers heading to storm-stricken areas of KY

Published:

An emergency order suspending weight and HOS restrictions for drivers providing aid to storm-ravaged areas of Kentucky has been extended through mid-February.

The emergency order was initially issued in December 2020, and was set to expire at 12:01 a.m. on January 14th. Now, the weight and HOS suspensions will continue through February 18th at 12:01 a.m. as a way to assist continuing recovery efforts, reported Kentucky Today.

Those providing response to affected areas of the state will not be required to stop at weigh stations or adhere to maximum driving times. Additionally, permit fees will be waived for overweight or overheight trucks providing relief.

Drivers must still comply with all other safety requirements and carry a copy of the order in the cab of their truck if operating under the official order.
