Wisconsin trooper injured when big rig struck cruiser during midnight traffic stop

A Wisconsin State Patrol (WSP) trooper suffered injuries in a crash with a commercial motor vehicle early Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred around 12 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, near Black River Falls in Jackson County, Wisconsin.

WSP said that the trooper was inside of his cruiser while conducting a traffic stop on I-94 at mile marker 118 (south of WIS 54) “when an approaching semi tractor-trailer lost control and struck the cruiser and rear quarter panel of the vehicle that had been stopped.”

The truck driver and the driver who was pulled over were not hurt in the crash.

The trooper suffered non life-threatening injuries.

The crash is now under investigation by the Jackson County Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office.

“Please #moveover for stopped emergency vehicles. If you cannot move over, #slowdown,” WSP said.
