A woman and a child were killed in a wreck with a log that came off of a semi truck in North Carolina on Wednesday morning.
The incident happened on August 10th just before 6 a.m.in Surry County, North Carolina.
According to WFMY 2 News, a tractor trailer was hauling logs northbound on Highway 601 when it overturned on a curve and lost part of its load.
42-year-old April Hill and a child passenger were heading south on 601 when one of the loose logs struck their car. The force of the impact caused Hill to lose control, sending her off the road and down an embankment. Police say that Hill and the child passenger died at the scene.
The truck driver, 44-year-old Jeffrey McManus, has charges pending against him, but the specifics of the charges have not been released.
